The Plateau des Petites Roches has numerous hiking trails. From one-hour walks to day-long hikes, there is something for all tastes and all levels!
Chartreuse Regional Nature Park
This veritable green oasis in the mid-mountains is one of France’s 58 regional nature parks. It covers most of the Chartreuse massif. Its main towns are Grenoble (on the Isère side) and Chambéry (on the Savoie side).
Grésivaudan Valley
Halfway between Grenoble (30 minutes by car) and Chambéry (45 minutes by car), this valley offers visitors a spectacular setting along the Isère River. A former glacial valley, it is a rich region combining cultural, historical and natural heritage. Between plains and mountains, discover a wide range of activities: skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking… something for everyone in all seasons!
Cities of Grenoble & Chambéry
These two main towns in the Chartreuse Mountains are home to a rich heritage and a variety of places of interest. In Grenoble (Isère), on the northern side, discover its famous bastille and 19th-century military fort, perched high up and offering exceptional views of the city. To get there quickly, take the cable car, one of the first urban cable cars! Head south to Chambéry (Savoie). Among the various attractions, visit the historic centre with its Elephant Fountain and Place St-Léger. For heritage, stop off at the Château des Ducs de Savoie and St-François de Sales Cathedral.
